Q: WHAT IS THE WASHINGTON CHARTER JOG A THON?
A: The Jog-a-Thon is a fundraising initiative, organized by the Washington Charter Parent Club Foundation (WCSPCF). It is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year and one that the students all look forward to. The date for the event will be on Thursday, February 15 and will run throughout the course of the day.
This year the event will be run by Ultra Fun Run. Each grade will be designated a time slot (roughly 15-20 minutes), where they will run the marked track at school. Each student will receive a tracker to wear for the event and it will monitor the number of laps the student runs/walks.

Q: WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING TO SCHOOL FOR THE EVENT?
A: Your child does not need to bring anything to school other than a labeled water bottle. We ask that you dress you child. appropriately for outdoor activity—comfortable shorts/pants and walking/running shoes.

HOW DOES THE PARENT CLUB RAISE MONEY FOR THIS EVENT?
There are 3 ways that the PCF raises money for the event:
1) SPONSORSHIPS- Families can sign up to be a sponsor for the event. There are 3 levels of sponsorship available: GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE. Each sponsorship level includes a certain number of t-shirts as well as various advertising perks, which includes having your family and/or company name on the back of the t-shirt.
2) T-SHIRT SALES – Students AND parents may purchase a t-shirt to wear on the Jog-a-Thon day for $15 each.
*THESE T-SHIRTS ARE UNIFORM APPROVED*
3) PLEDGES/DONATIONS – Students will be able to receive pledges/donations from family and friends for participating in the event and in the process, will receive fun prizes! These pledges/donations will be done through Ultra Fun Run.
Pledges can be made for each lap the student runs, or through a flat donation. Students will attend an assembly with more information and information for the pledges and donations will come at the end of January.

Q: HOW DO I PURCHASE T-SHIRTS?
A: All t-shirts orders and sponsorships can be done online via the Greater Giving website. Information will be sent home with your child and no cash or checks will need to be exchanged.

Q: I WANT TO BE A GOLD SPONSOR, BUT I DON’T HAVE 4 KIDS AT WCS. WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY EXTRA T-SHIRTS?
A: T-shirts can be ordered in both child and adult sizes, so feel free to order one for the adult(s) in your family too. Because these t-shirts are uniform approved, some parents purchase two or more for their child. If you are still left with extra t-shirts, there will be an option to donate them back to the school and they will be distributed to students accordingly.

Q: DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO HAVE A T-SHIRT TO RUN IN THE JOG-A-THON?
A: No. All students will participate whether they purchase a t-shirt or not. Most students do purchase a t-shirt, as these shirts are approved for uniform wear. Please let your teacher know if you need help purchasing a t-shirt.

Q: CAN I PURCHASE T-SHIRTS ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?
A: We do not plan to sell t-shirts on the day of the event. In the past, we have sold some on the day of the event, but this is not guaranteed and size availability will be limited. We strongly suggest that shirts be pre-ordered.

Q: I HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD AT WCS. CAN I ORDER ALL OF THEIR T-SHIRTS IN ONE ORDER?
A: If you have more than one child at WCS, you will be able to order all of their shirts (including sponsorships) via the website.
On this site, you will be able to indicate their name and who their teacher is.

Q: CAN I BE A SPONSOR AND PURCHASE EXTRA T-SHIRTS IN ADDITION TO THE ONES I RECEIVE FOR BEING A SPONSOR?
A: Absolutely. For example, a family with 3 children may want to be a SILVER sponsor (which includes 2 t-shirts) and order one additional t-shirt “a la carte” for their 3 rd child. This is absolutely fine. In this case, please put this all on one order form.

Q: ARE PRIZES GIVEN OUT TO STUDENTS?
A: Yes. Various prizes will be handed out to the students for sending emails to family and friends, running the event, as well as a class prize for the most money earned.

Q: WHEN ARE T-SHIRT ORDERS DUE?
A: T-shirt orders are due by Wednesday, January 24 . This will allow us to have enough time to order and print the t-shirts.

Q: WHEN WILL MY CHILD RECEIVE HIS/HER T-SHRIT?
A: T-shirts will be distributed a few days before the Jog-a-Thon. Please do not have your child wear his/her shirt before the Jog-a-Thon event.
