Prom Night - 2025 Gala
Saturday, March 15, 2025

What is Gala?

Gala is Washington Charter’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Because we are a charter school, we can’t rely on district funding to the extent that other public schools can. Gala is one of the ways WCS is able to sustain many of the wonderful programs and services it offers its students.

Who is it for?

Gala is for parents, grandparents, teachers, and other community members who would like to support Washington Charter School. It is an adult-only event.

What do I do with my kids?

If you require childcare, HOPE Lutheran Church is providing a “Kids’ Night” from 5pm-9pm. The Family YMCA of the Desert in Palm Desert is also offering a “Parent’s Night Out” from 5pm-9pm. (Although the gala also opens its doors at 5pm, the silent auction and cocktail hour will run for an hour before guests will be seated for dinner, so there will not be a conflict if utilizing these options for childcare).

Contact Hope Lutheran: (805) 910-8883

What should I expect at the event?

The evening begins with a silent auction, where attendees are welcome to grab a cocktail while they mingle and peruse the silent auction items. This is followed by a sit-down dinner and live auction.

Please note that tables have assigned seating, so if you would like to sit with a specific person or group, you can make that request when purchasing tickets and will be accommodated to the best of our ability.

I have certain dietary restrictions; can those be accommodated?

While we would love to accommodate all concerns, at this time we are only able to offer a vegetarian dinner option for those who would appreciate it.

What should I wear?

The theme for this year’s gala is “Prom Through the Years.” Attendees often enjoy dressing for the theme; however, this is not required. Some feel more comfortable in cocktail attire. Wear what makes you feel comfortable.

I know it’s at the Renaissance Esmeralda, but where should I park?

Self-parking for the event is in the back of the property and located closer to the ballroom where the event is taking place in the eastern-most building. Valet parking is offered in the front of the hotel; however, it is a farther walk to the event space.

When is it?

Soon! Saturday, March 15, 2025! Buy your tickets now!

How do I get tickets?

Use the link in the email or QR code on the Gala invitation.

How do I purchase auction items?

This is a cash-less event. You will have the option of registering your credit-card when purchasing your tickets online or at the start of the event for an expedited check-out experience.

What if I don’t know anyone and I’m afraid I will feel awkward.

The Gala is a great way to meet other parents at WCS. If you don’t know many parents in your child’s grade or classroom, let us know and we will do our best to seat you with others from your class or grade level.

I can’t attend, but I’d really like to participate in some way. Is that possible?

The silent auction items will be available via an online platform, so you do not have to be physically present at the venue to view and bid on those items. You are also always welcome to make a donation or sponsor a teacher for the event. Go to the link in the email or invitation.

Wow! This seems like a great event. Who puts this together?

The Parent Club Foundation is full of dedicated volunteers who organize this event, using some of the funds raised from the prior school year to put on an event that benefits the entire WCS community.

This sounds awesome! I’d like to be more involved in the event planning. How do I do that?

Gala-committee and the PCF in general are always looking to welcome more people. It is a great way to be more involved in your child’s WCS experience. For this year’s gala, we’d love your help setting up on Friday, March 14. If you would like to be involved with next year’s gala, come to the PCF meeting held in the staff lounge on Wed. 3/19. See you there!
